- ≥ 1 per storey if not containing a bedroom
- In every hallway / corridor associated with a bedroom, or
- Other location separating bedroom(s) to rest of building
- All must be on mains power & be interconnected
- Class 1b
- ≥ 1 per storey if not containing a bedroom
- In every bedroom

- Other location separating bedroom(s) to rest of building
- All must be on mains power & be interconnected
- Activation of any Alarm must trigger Evacuation Lighting to illuminate pathways from any Bedroom to an Exit Door
