  • The location of smoke alarms is intended to detect smoke before it reaches the sleeping occupants of a building giving enough time for evacuationNCC 2022 HP, 9.5.1
  • Class 1a
  • ≥ 1 per storey if not containing a bedroom
  • In every hallway / corridor associated with a bedroom, or
  • Other location separating bedroom(s) to rest of building
  • All must be on mains power & be interconnected
  • Class 1b
  • ≥ 1 per storey if not containing a bedroom
  • In every bedroom
  • In every hallway / corridor associated with a bedroom, or
  • Other location separating bedroom(s) to rest of building
  • All must be on mains power & be interconnected
  • Activation of any Alarm must trigger Evacuation Lighting to illuminate pathways from any Bedroom to an Exit Door
