  • Building elements in Wet Areas to be Waterproof or Water Resistant to NCC Specification 26, NCC Part 10.2, & AS 3740
  • Backing rod, tape, or sealant should be installed when the membrane is bonded to the substrate
  • Type depending on membrane flexibility classAS 3740:2021, 4.10

Class I Membrane (low extensibility)

  • Resin systems, or water-based epoxies membranes
  • ≥ 6mm ØAS 3740:2021, 4.13.2.2 backing rod should be installed to allow the membranes to flex instead of stretch, with a continuous tape between backing rod and membrane to keep it in place

Class II Membrane (medium extensibility)

  • Acrylic membranes, bitumen-based emulsions or mastics membranes
  • Tape to allow the membrane to stretch

Class III Membrane (high extensibility)

  • Polyurethane, PVC, rubber, or EPDM membrane
  • Fillet or sealant to allow even thickness to the membrane
