The keys to Natural Lighting Rules for Habitable Rooms are:
- Window must be:
- at least 10% of floor area
- more than 900mm from boundary (some minimal shadow)
- Glazing panels must be unobstructed
- the 10% Rule applies for the COMBINED floor area if an adjacent room or space is included
- Roof lighting can replace windows if the roof light:
- area is 3% of floor area including adjoining room or area
- open to the sky.
