Holey Moley! At last, we have something that shows how to punch holes / successfully place services through flat roofs.
The essence of detailing or constructing these watertight penos is:
- always install a raised ‘plinth’ – external corners should always be 45˙ to limit stresses on membrane
- plinth should be doweled (chemset) to the main structure – be careful of PT cables!
- ‘shed’ or slope the top of any raised area
- fixings / threaded rods should be stainless steel
- remember to embed the fire collars they forget in the support slab
Keeping AC lines and various cables dry and vermin proof is another story. Stay tuned!
