Box gutters usually drain into rain heads – also called rainwater heads. Sometimes the rain head is designed with the front edge lower than the box gutter. The tricks to note with this ‘weir’ design are:
- keep overflow edge of rain head at least 25mm lower than gutter
- turn the gutter edge neatly down over the back of rain head
- seal this edge (including both sides) and rivet to squeeze / compress the sealant
- rivet the nozzle from BELOW – often smart tradesmen do this on the ground
Enjoy the waterfall in heavy rain! And always know your gutter will never flood your Client’s interiors.
