Access / Balustrades / Balustrade – Wire

I’m not a fan of wire balustrades. They are just trouble:

 

    • anchor points are weak
    • installers don’t tension them correctly …. or they tension the vertical wires too much and distort top & bottom rails
    • and long length wires? …. don’t get me started on how silly these are …. especially when your 8 year old Tarzan & his sister Jane are standing on them.

 

 Balustrade - Wire

The only time wire seems to work are on designer fit outs / internal stairs or if the designer enforces a max 90mm spacing to limit inevitable loose wires causing non-compliant gaps.
So let’s not be slack about the knowledge and rules needed to create safe and compliance balustrades.
