FTR, mismanagement of movement causes the MAJORITY of cosmetic defects in construction.
Please review & revisit this Tool™ so placing joints becomes second nature:
- between different materials
- between new & old work
- to absorb the predictable movement in a material
- where wall thickness or height changes
- 470mm – 4.5m range from any corner
- 4.5m – 6m max spacing depending upon location
- a chase for services should never exceed 25% of wall thickness.
Here are some tips from other Tradespeople:
- try to locate joints above & below reveals or behind downpipes
- allow an 15mm wide joint between long panels of new clay masonry – it will compress
- use colour matched / UV sealant (paintable where paint specified)
