Fire / Fire Resisting Construction / Fire Resistant Building Elements / Plasterboard Stud Wall (FRL)

1 min read 26 July 2024

Tools™ now includes everything about the install of fire resisting products. The most common for little jobs is still plasterboard. We usually need to know the total thickness of the wall & the general rules for:

  • staggered joints & joints over openings
  • thickness of sheets i.e. 13mm or 16mm. And number of sheets
  • gaps to top bottoms of sheets – which will require a fire rated sealant applied
  • 200mm butt joint fixing centres & 300mm otherwise.
There’s nothing wrong knowing that fire rated linings need more care & skill. And you can always share this Tool™ with any smart arse drywall contractor who thinks he is right when he is not up to date.
