Waterproofing / Internal Waterproofing / Showers / Shower Setdown

I hate this detail. It is a trip hazard. Does not comply with AS 1428.1. And it is unsightly unless detailed carefully.

I think you can limit use of this detail by providing the minimum 1 in 80 slope to the substrate under the WPM (entire wet area waterproofed to AS 3740) . AND include a tiny 3mm water check at the shower.

If you HAVE to provide the 15mm ‘kicker’:

    • angle must be durable, primed, fixed to floor and have angled fillet
    • WPM must extend to top of angle
    • detail how to conceal any visible 15mm of angle. TIP. Get designer to choose colour and finish.
    • plan what will happen at the base of the shower screen especially if there is a frame.
